Although Bernie Sanders inspired me to take action by canvassing, phone banking, and ultimately organizing Bern Fest, it was meeting members from The People’s Lobby that really guided my focus into creating what is currently being developed at Chicago Progress.
It is one thing to feel passionate about bringing change to the way government corruption has ruined our Democracy; quite another to turn that passion into action. By bringing awareness to local initiatives that can serve to provide better representation, The People’s Lobby fights because it is needed and it is the right thing to do. They are relentless, as we should all be, because we understand the magnitude of the problem. Where Bernie planted a seed in me, The People’s Lobby and Reclaim Chicago have nurtured that seed so that it, along with many others can grow to change things for the better.
