Celebrate the Fight Against Slavery on Lincoln’s Birthday

February 13 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Help the “Land of Lincoln” take a stand against modern day slavery.

Honor Abraham Lincoln’s birthday by welcoming two of the world’s most acclaimed anti-slavery leaders to Chicago from Mauritania, West Africa.

Mauritania has been called Slavery’s Last Stronghold  by CNN and ranked as the nation with the largest percentage of its own people still enslaved. Slavery in Mauritania was not criminalized until 2007 – and its weak laws against the practice are seldom enforced.  Mauritanians Biram Abeid and Brahim Randhame faced severe persecution for fighting against slavery, but now they are turning their country towards freedom. On February 13th, join us in welcoming these heroes to Chicago!
The event is free and begins at 5:30 pm – but please RSVP by following this link.
The event is hosted at Latham & Watkins LLP Conference Center
330 N. Wabash #2800 and you can find out more information by emailing info@stoppingslavery.org
