Mo’ March For Hip-Hop Tax Relief In Cook County

October 26, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Another opportunity for Minuteheads among the local urban arts community to stack, err, fill the Cook County Board of Commissioners Finance Committee (Committee of the Whole) and regular meetings in support of a draft proposed amendment sponsored by Commissioners John Fritchey (D-12) and Sean Morrison (R-14) that would define DJ’ing as a fine art, exempt small venue DJ’ed events from the county amusement tax and lower the county amusement tax rate for medium venue DJ’ed events. Your urban arts community needs YOU to fill up the County Board Room seats and standing room and bombard the commissioners and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle with spoken and written testimony for the proposed amendment to the current county amusement tax ordinance of the Cook County Code. Such tactics are in part how the county law that takes effect next summer requiring private sector businesses to provide up to five days of paid sick leave gained County Board approval.
