Drinks and Discourse: Dissent is Patriotic

May 18, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Drinks and Discourse is an informal space where we can get together face to face (irl) to hang out, drink, and discuss politics.

It’s a space to share what we are doing and see what everyone else has been up to and casually discuss completely changing the world.

This month the theme will be “Dissent is Patriotic”

The history of the United States was formed by people like you and me identifying injustice and doing something about it. Dissent is often unpopular at the time but then later whitewashed, then lauded. Dissent is a popular term these days, but what does it actually mean? Who are we dissenting against?

Join us as we discuss: what is considered dissent? Is dissent always effective? Is dissent the “highest form of patriotism”?

As usual, most of the space will be for just hanging out, finding common ground, sharing experiences, and uniting the community.
